Supporting Victoria’s $1.04 Billion Road Maintenance Program
What the budget means
The 2026–27 Victorian State Budget includes a record $1.04 billion investment to rebuild, repair and resurface roads across Victoria. This is the largest road maintenance investment in the state’s history.
According to the Victorian Government, the funding will be used to:
- Repair and resurface deteriorating roads.
- Fix approximately 200,000 potholes.
- Remove around 200,000 graffiti tags from roadside infrastructure.
- Improve road safety across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
- Deliver preventative maintenance to extend the life of road assets.
- Allocate around 70% of the funding to regional Victoria, where many roads have experienced significant wear and flood damage.
